Examinations

Marks, results, grace and re-sits, by the institution's own rules.

Results are where an institution's rules meet a few thousand marks, usually in a spreadsheet that one person understands.

Examinations keeps the rules as the institution writes them — what each component is out of and its minimum, the course minimum, how much grace a near miss may be given and when, the grade bands, the attendance below which a hall ticket is withheld — dated, so a revision applies from a term and never rewrites a past result.

Teachers enter marks for the sections they teach. Results are worked out by one set of rules, shown to the office before they are published, and frozen when they are. A student who fails a paper applies for the supplementary round for that paper only, pays for it through Fees, and has their internal marks carried forward; their record shows every attempt.

HOW IT CONNECTS

A shared institutional foundation.

This module works within the same institution and student register as the rest of CampusOS. Staff access is controlled by their role and module permissions.

KEY CAPABILITIES

What changes in the workflow

  • Assessment schemes: components, maxima and minimums, per course

  • Pass, grace and grade rules by programme and year, dated from when they apply

  • Hall tickets withheld below the attendance minimum, from the real registers

  • Marks entered by each section's own teachers; changes after submission need a reason

  • Results worked out, previewed and frozen on publishing — grace shown where it was given

  • Supplementary and backlog rounds for the papers a student still owes, with the fee invoiced

  • Every attempt on one record per student
